| A journalist by profession his political
activism led to his becoming an MLA for the first time in 1991 by winning
from the Karanprayag constituency.
Later, he was elected to the U.P.
Assembly again in '93 and '96 on the BJP ticket.
He is also associated with many literary
and cultural societies. He has also authored about a dozen literary works.
At the time of formation of Uttaranchal he was the Minister of Cultural
Affairs in the UP Government.
Earlier, he had also been the Minister
for Hill Development. He, too, had made a strong bid for the Chief Ministership. |
