Nirupama Gaur

Mrs. Nirupama Gaur, the Uttaranchal Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing, Urban Employment, Poverty Alleviation, Women’s Empowerment and Child Welfare, is originally from Lucknow but as a member of the UP Vidhan Parishad is now a member of the Uttaranchal Assembly.
Born in Varanasi, Mrs. Gaur has been active as a politician at the grassroots level over the last 30 years. 

She has held many important posts in the BJP. She was jailed during the Emergency for conducting a satyagrah. 

She also took part in the march from Rampur Tiraha to Delhi against the atrocities committed upon the agitationists. 

She was also jailed for participating in the Ram Janambhoomi movement.
