Prayag Darshan
| Deoprayag
Situated on
the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, it is commoonly be-
lieved to be the birth place of the Ganga. It comprises the oldest route
to Badri- nath & Gangotri. The famed Raghunath Math and Shiva
Temple are situated here. |

Rudraprayag
Named
after Shiva (Rudra), it is situated at the confluence
of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Sati, the
first wife of Shiva, is believed to have meditated here. It is
also said to be the place where
Shiva humbled Narada.Temples include Rudranath
and Chamunda Devi. The road diverts
to Kedarnath excavations from here. |
| Karnaprayag
Situated on
the confluence of the Alaknanda & Pindar rivers. Archaeological excavations
6 kms. from here, at Simpli,
have revealed pre-Gupta period statutes, further confirming
its importance, since earlier times. This place is also famous for
the Karn Temple and Uma Devi Temple. The road from here diverts to
Ranikhet, Almora and Kausani. |

Nandprayag
Situated
on the confluence of the Alaknanda
and Nandakani rivers it derives its name from Nanda,
the Yadav King, and foster father of Lord Krishna.
There is a
very famous Gopalji temple here.

Vishnuprayag
Situated
on the confluence of the Alaknanda and Dhauli Ganga rivers.
An ancient Temple stands here, beside
a pool called Vishnu Kund. |
