In local dialect, Bugyal means ‘high altitude meadow’. In other words,
Dayara Bugyal is to Uttaranchal what Khajjiar (Dalhousie) is to Himachal
Pradesh.
Dayara Bugyal is what every trekker and nature lover yearns for. Perched
near Bhatwari on the Uttarkashi-Gangotri (27 kms. from Uttarkashi) highway,
Dayara Bugyal is a most unspoilt wonder. During winters
it provides excellent ski slopes over an area of 28 sq. kms. On the banks
of the picturesque lake you can realize your fantasy of camping on the
riverside. At 3084 meters, Dayara Bugyal offers one of the most captivating
views of the majestic Himalayas. To reach Dayara you have to come to Barsu,
from where it is an 8 kms. lively trek and the other route is through Raithal
from where Dayara Bugyal is 6 kms. For temple enthusiasts, the famous sheshnag
temple is enroute. This temple is situated on the Raithal-Dayara route. |
