Auli
    Auli is nestled in the lap of snow-capped peaks of the Garhwal   Himalayas, in the Chamoli district of    Uttaranchal, and near the world - famous religious shrine of  Badrinath. If you are out for adventure, fun and frolic this winter, find yourself in Auli-in the vicinity of the mountain peaks Nanda Devi and Mana Parbat.
       Breeze  through  the  chill air and blaze a defiant trail as you go skiing on the well-dressed  snow slopes. Or pelt each other with snow-balls on a blanket of snow. And if you’re a lover of natural splendour, feast your eyes on the breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks all around you.

      The  conditions for skiing are perfect at Auli. A 500 meters long ski-lift and an 800 meters  long chair-lift  link the upper and lower slopes, and snow  beaters and  snow-packing machines maintain the smoothness of the  slopes. Skiers can enjoy almost 20 km of virgin slopes, which provide excellent opportunities for cross-country,  slalom and down-hill skiing events.

Accessibility
 

Road : Auli is only a 13 km drive  from Joshimath. State transport and Union buses ply  regularly between Joshimath  and  Rishikesh (253 kms). Local Transport Union buses and State Transport buses operate between Joshimath and  Rishikesh (253 kms.),  Haridwar (277 kms.),  Dehradun (298 kms.)  and  Delhi  (500 kms.). 
Rail : Auli is 253 kms. from Rishikesh, 277 kms. from Haridwar, 298 kms. from  Dehra Dun and 500 km. from Delhi.  From the nearest railhead point of  view, Haridwar/Rishikesh railway station is very good, from where specific services are provided by the Railway Department for tourism.
Air : Auli  is 298 kms. from  Dehra Dun which has an airport at Jolly Grant.  Helicopter services have been launched on a trial basis but have not proved economically viable. Attempts continue, however, to establish such a service. When these become available, Garhwal Himalayas.com will be the first to inform. Chartered services are available, though, from Delhi.
By Cable Car : The  most  popular  way to drop in at Auli is by the famed cable car  service  which is 3 kms. long. Travelling by the rope-way, it is impossible to resist the captivating beauty of the snow covered peaks, the alpine forest and the bracing climate.

There  are  number  of  guest  houses ,  ashrams  and  dharamshalas at this place.

Adventure Sport in Auli
 

    The slopes of Auli are covered with snow, providing excellent  opportunities  for cross country and down  hill  skiing events. A  three kms. long  slope ranging  from a  height  of 2519 mts. to 3049 mts. is a major attract- ion.The resort has snow beaters, which beat  the snow to keep the  slopes fit  for  skiing  at  all  times.

       Auli offers a 180 degree panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi (7817mts.) Kamet (7756mts.)  Mana  Parvat (7273mts.)  and Duna Giri (7066mts.).Seasoned  skiers have a clean stretch of 10  to 20 kms  of absolutely virgin slopes to sport on.
