Neelkanth is 11 kms. from Rishikesh, which is located at a
height of 5000 ft. There is a temple dedicated
to Neelkanth Mahadev. Neelkanth is also famous for its healthy
climate and scenic beauty. It is one full day's trek up and down.
At Neelkanth, good food and accomodation is available. From
here it's worth while to visit the Bhubaneshwari Devi Temple
2 kms. further up, and beyond, another 3 kms., is Jhilmil Gufa.

Route : Lakhsmanjhula - Garurchatti - 2 1/2
kms. Phoolchatti - 2 kms. Gattughat - 3 kms.-Maongaon
- 4 kms. - Neelkanth - 3 kms.
Now a days it is possible to go to Maongaon by bus/taxi and Neelkanth is
3 kms. trek or may be covered by motorcycle. There is a regular bus service
from Rishikesh/Haridwar upto Kandi which passes through Maongaon. |
