Shila Trek
| Since the peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas
are quite difficult to scale in the winter months, this trek will combine
scaling and trekking in the winter months through
a route rich in flora and fauna, lake and meadows full of fresh
snow. The scenic beauty on the trails are breath taking. The grassy
slopes which are covered with snow will make an
ideal Ski course and you can have a lot of fun. |

| 1st
day : |
Drive to Guptakahi
185 kms. (via) Deoprayag, Srinagar, and Rudraprayag. Guptakashi is a small
town enroute to Kedarnath. The view of Chaukhamba peak is remarkable
from here. Night halt at Tourist Bunglow, Guptakshi (1319 metres). |
| 2nd
day : |
Drive to Ukhimath
14 kms.. At Ukhimath the prayers are offered to Lord Kedarnath in the winter
months as the gates of Kedarnath are closed for winter. Trek to Deoriatal
8 kms. Night halt alpine style. |
| 3rd
day : |
Trek to Dogal-bitta
through thick forest all the way ascending from 1500 to 2000 metres, 16
kms. trek. Night halt in the compounds of Dogalbitta Inspection House.

day : |
Trek to Chopta,
9 kms. on snowy slopes in winter months where base camp is established. |
| 5th
day : |
Attempt Chandtrashila
peak 4679 metres via Tungnath 7 kms. and return to base camp or acclimatize
for the next day's attempt. |
